While picture-perfect pair Prince Harry and Meghan Markle can look good in front of a camera no matter what (as evidenced by their engagement photos), with a royal wedding budget at their disposal, the duo will most likely spare no expense booking the best of the best when it comes to their wedding photography. And, with almost exactly one month until the couple's May 19 nuptials (not like we've been counting down the days since their engagement or anything… ), Markle and Harry's wedding photographer has just been announced. Looks like we now know who will be shooting the soon-to-be-iconic pictures to add to our Harry and Meghan fan collection.
The title of royal wedding photographer officially goes to… drum roll, please… none other than Alexi Lubomirski. If the name sounds familiar, you probably recognize him as the vendor who also shot Markle and Harry's engagement photos. Seems like the trio really hit it off!
"I could not be more thrilled or honored to photograph this historic occasion," Lubomirski said in a statement released by Kensington Palace. "Having taken Prince Harry and Ms. Markle's engagement photos, it brings me such joy to be able to witness again, the next chapter in this wonderful love story."
It only makes sense that Lubomirski would be given another chance in the spotlight considering the overwhelming response to his work prompted by the betrothed pair's engagement pictures. Kensington Palace originally shared two photos from the shoot to social media, then later posted another (much to our satisfaction) "as a way to say thank you" for the public's positive responses. The first photo showcases the pair hand-in-hand sitting together on a set of steps. The next two shots (in black and white) are much more candid, with Markle and Harry cutely cozying up together.
However, Lubomirski recently opened up regarding the surprising backlash revolved around Markle's outfit choice for said photos. The bride-to-be sported a Ralph & Russo gown with a sheer bodice, tulle ruffled skirt, and $75,000 price tag. The dress's nude top caused the most controversy, with some questioning whether it's the right fit for a future royal.
"I was very shocked with the reaction," he told Entertainment Tonight. "To be honest, we tried on a couple of different things and that was just one that she felt comfortable in, so we weren't really thinking, 'Is it nude?' or anything. We just thought, 'Feel comfortable and let's make some nice pictures.'" Despite upset over Markle's dress, Lubomirski will fortunately get to make nice pictures with the future royal bride and groom one more time.
With an opportunity like this, we have a feeling Lubomirski's demand is about to skyrocket. The photographer is no stranger to A-listers, with a client list that includes the likes of BeyoncГ© and Sarah Jessica Parker, just to name a few.
Congrats to Lubomirski for landing the photography gig of the century and, based on his past credentials, we're incredibly confident that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will end up with the perfect pics to add to their wedding scrapbook.
