Two years after David Bowie passed away, his wife, Iman, took to social media to pen a short but emotional tribute to her late husband on what would have been their 26th wedding anniversary. On Wednesday, the supermodel posted a throwback picture from one of their wedding ceremonies with the touching caption, "I only miss you when I'm breathing. June 6th #BowieForever #EternalLove," she wrote.
Bowie and Iman were first married in a civil ceremony near the singer's Swiss chateau on April 24, 1992, with just a witness and an interpreter. Then, the couple decided to have a larger celebration on June 6 of the same year. This time, they both dressed to the nines and had celebrity guests present to witness their big day; Bowie even wrote three songs for the occasion-“The Wedding,” “The Wedding Song,” and “Pallas Athena”-that later ended up on his 1993 album Black Tie White Noise, according to Diffuser. Later, when asked what his greatest achievement was, Bowie said, “Marrying my wife. That's the most successful thing I ever did in my life.” And when further pushed to pick something from his musical career, Bowie scoffed and said, “Nothing else counts.”
The Ziggy Stardust singer passed away of liver cancer in January 2016. Since then, Iman has consistently posted loving tributes to her husband on social media. Earlier this year, she even got a matching tattoo with daughter Alexandria Jones in his memory. Jones chose to get a tattoo of a crescent moon with the words "Daddy xxx," and "1947-2016," and Iman was inked with a knife with "David" written on the handle on her ankle. Iman captioned pictures of the tattoos, "You will always be part of us."
